Karen Nappa

Karen Nappa writes Seasoned BDSM Romance with HEA. Their growing library including TRAPPED (a D/s story), and CHERISHED (an age play story). Their latest release, BLINDED, is the fifth book in the Club Indigo series.

Immersed in the D/s lifestyle themselves, they write realistic albeit romantic stories. When not dominated by their cats or their Master (in that order - even if it earns them a spanking!), they love going to Club Indigo and other places to discover the stories that are waiting to be written.

When not texting, skyping, or writing together the American half likes to spin yarn and make quilts, while the Dutch "partner in crime" prefers to go for a run while listening to heavy metal.

April 11th, 2019 will be a date they will always remember. Not only was it the day their debut was released, it also was the day that the two halves of Karen Nappa met in person.-

The wonder of being alive never gets old for me. I am enraptured daily by the variety of living, breathing, crawling, and flying things. The look in my kitties' eyes as they wait impatiently for food. Their soul is reflected in their eyes as they look at me with trust and care. This past year was a test of endurance, of seeing my loved ones on a computer screen, staying home to feel safe. It's hard to come out of this unscathed, feeling secure. I hope normacy returns. Writing a book this year definitely helped my spirit to soar as my mind escaped out of my house.

Does the COVID-19 pandemic make you want to learn a bit more about science, but you don't want to read a dry text? As a scientist with more than twenty years of teaching and research experience in the biological sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I think science can be interesting to everyone (including women and minorities) if the topics are relevant to real problems and the instructor is lively.

Thus I explored modern scientific controversies (e.g. weight loss, cancer immunotherapy, food safety, water conservation) in the novels of my Science Traveler Series. My protagonist is Sara Almquist—an epidemiologist who tired of academia and now applies her skills to solve medical and criminal mysteries in New Mexico and worldwide. Like me, Sara lives in New Mexico and loves to travel to exotic places (i.e. the Middle East, Bolivia, India, Cuba).

You'll also meet the perfect gentleman in my books, Sara's Japanese Chin dog—Bug. The character Bug is based on my own dog who served a pet therapy dog for twelve years at a VA Center and the pediatric wards in a university hospital. As you read the books, you may think Sara has better taste in dogs than in men.

I grew up in Morristown, New Jersey with my brother and sister. We share treasured memories of high school, the Jersey shore and skiing with cousins in Mt. Snow, Vermont. All of which became part of April's Heart. I went to college in Washington, DC and became a teacher. I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia with my husband of thirty years. Our two boys are in their twenties making their own way in the world. I enjoy cooking (I've done some catering), my daily power walks (my preferred method of exercise), and hanging out on the beach.

Although truly fiction, April's Heart is dear to my heart as it is very personal, basically following the outline of my life. I grew up in a dysfunctional family. My mother was a difficult person, and our relationship tenuous. In April’s Heart readers relive the night I was “rescued” the very night my father left my mother, as well as heartwarming traditions of childhood and growing up in the 80’s.

Irial O'Farrell

My name is Irial, I grew up in Ireland and, having travelled a decent chunk of the world, I moved back to Ireland. I have a natural tendency to need to make sense of things and the thing I spend most of my time trying to make sense of is business and how to match the needs of the individual with the needs of the business. This interest has led me on a very interesting career trajectory, that has mostly emerged from my curiosity.

I also love to write. While one day, I'd love to write a novel, for the moment, I'm keeping to writing about the sense I have made about business. Yes, you got it, I write management books.

Other than that, I'm married with three beautiful children and two cats. Well, a cat and a half. One cat definitely lives with us. The other deigns to visit on occasion and I strongly suspect, we also own the bit that requires vetinary fees!

Alex Craigie

top

author

Alex Craigie

Alex Craigie is the pen name of Trish Power. She wrote short stories for magazines when her children were tiny and, when they started school, she returned to her teaching job where she discovered that the commitment to education and child-rearing left no time to read novels, let alone write them.

Years passed and she became aware of increasing numbers of her mother’s generation shoe-horned into small rooms in care homes. Her visits to these places left her frustrated, sad, and once so angry she didn’t know what to do with herself.

She wrote out her fears, grief and rage in a book called Someone Close to Home. As an Indie author she hadn’t appreciated the difficulty of raising the profile of her book high enough for it to be visible. Fortunately, enough people did find it and wrote reviews that made the experience a worthwhile and rewarding one.

A former Air Force veteran, I've authored over twenty novels in the past two decades. As a writer, I was greatly influenced by the works of Stephen King, Robert R. McCammon, Dean Koontz, Ramsey Campbell, Thomas Harris and Robert Bloch.

Rod Serling's 'TWILIGHT ZONE' and 'NIGHT GALLERY' programs helped shape my imagination for the fantastic at an early age. Additionally, I cannot ignore the influence of such horror film classics as John Carpenter's 1982 remake of 'THE THING', as well as George A. Romero's 'DEAD' films.

Brooke Skipstone

author

Brooke Skipstone

Brooke Skipstone is a multi-award winning author who lives in Alaska where she watches the mountains change colors with the seasons from her balcony. Where she feels the constant rush toward winter as the sunlight wanes for six months of the year, seven minutes each day, bringing crushing cold that lingers even as the sun climbs again. Where the burst of life during summer is urgent under twenty-four-hour daylight, lush and decadent. Where fish swim hundreds of miles up rivers past bear claws and nets and wheels and lines of rubber-clad combat fishers, arriving humped and ragged, dying as they spawn. Where danger from the land and its animals exhilarates the senses, forcing her to appreciate the difference between life and death. Where the edge between is sometimes too alluring.

Crystal’s House of Queers is her third novel.

Visit her website at www.brookeskipstone.com for information about her first two novels, Some Laneys Died and Someone To Kiss My Scars.
