Alice McVeigh

About The Author

Alice McVeigh was born in Seoul, and grew up in U.S. embassies in Bangkok, Singapore and Myanmar. She returned to the D.C. suburbs at 13, where she finally began to play the cello. After graduating with distinction in cello performance from Jacobs School of Music, she came to London to study with Jacqueline du Pré in London – met Simon McVeigh, and never went home again. In her thirties, while touring worldwide with the Royal Philharmonic and the BBC Symphony, she won a three-book contract from ‘big-five’ publishers Orion/Hachette in contemporary fiction. However, Hachette fired her when she failed to deliver the third novel, due to a depression caused by six failed IVF attempts. Then… Rachel was born!

A literary chameleon, Alice turned to ghostwriting – immersing herself into her celeb client’s ‘voices’ while their daughter was small. Alice was only brave enough to attempt her own fiction again after her ADHD diagnosis, in 2019. She turned down four not-big-five publishers for her self-published Jane Austen-inspired series, which has so far won over 90 awards. Twice a finalist for the UK Selfies Book Awards at the London Book Fair, a three-time finalist for Foreword Indies' famous 'book of the year', three IPPYs (gold, silver, bronze), a Kirkus star etc. https://www.alicemcveigh.com
