About The Author

I have always enjoyed seeing new places, and after graduating from Essex University, I followed my career to Sheffield. But by the age of twenty-five, the explore bug took full hold, and I set off to travel and work my way around the World. I only got as far as the United States. After eighteen months, my visa expired, and I returned to England to do consulting for a year, including several months in Saudi Arabia.

With a new and longer visa, I returned to America and worked in New York, where I met my wife and settled for twenty-five years. We have three full-grown children and four grandchildren.

After moving to Texas just before the Great Recession, I found myself unemployed and went to Turkey for nine months to manage my uncle’s hotel in Marmaris. As the recession ended, I found new work and now work for a large technology company near Austin.

Since I was a teenager, I wanted to express myself in stories but could not find a way to get past my logical approach to things. Then I read a blog from George R. R. Martin on advice for writers. I can do this, I thought. And so began a journey of discovery that has taken seven years so far. One of Martin’s pieces of advice was to write often and read the work of others.

I have written over one million words and reviewed or critiqued over two thousand stories. I am hopelessly hooked on all aspects of writing. The Defenders of Vosj is my debut novel series, and I have either finished or drafted the remaining seven novels in the series. The first three are now available on Amazon: Defender of Vosj, The Fifth Kingdom, and Journeyman Wizard.

I write because I relish telling my stories. I endeavor to write well so others can enjoy my stories.

Today, I live in central Texas with my spouse and eldest daughter. Plus, we a gray hairball of a cat who’s three times the size of our older min-pin dog. We recently added a rescue lab named Lynn, who was found at the side of the road with a badly broken back leg.

I have written over thirty short stories and five novels, including one that will remain in the attic trunk forever (a writer’s first works are only good enough for the trash dump). Five years ago, I wrote a novel I dubbed Wizards Don’t Fly. But it was way too long and to get it published I had to cut it in half, creating two novels, Defender of Vosj, and The Fifth Kingdom. Ultimately, the four-book series will be published as eight novels, each about 360 pages long. The other three novels have each been drafted and are now being split to form the last six novels to round out the series.
