About The Author
My interest in books started when I was about six years old, and I read books by R.M. Ballantyne and Charles Dickens. I obtained these books from the local library; those were the days when you could walk the streets as a six-year-old, when it was deemed normal. From then on, I never stopped reading books by famed authors such as Selous, Wilbur Smith, Le Carre and many others of the same ilk.
I developed an interest in Africa, mainly through historical accounts of exploration, hunting and the diversity of wildlife. I believe that I went through every book in the local library that was based upon, travels through, Africa and India.
I wrote my first short story when I was twelve years old, but I never wrote a novel again until I was in my fifties. I have been fortunate in my work that I travelled across the globe, covering five continents and over forty different countries. I dined with Ambassadors, Industry Giants, great sportsmen and women. This experience was, and still is, invaluable in my writing.
I wrote my first novel in 2008, Behind the Rainbow. This was a standalone book. I then created the series with the main character, James Smythe. Smythe starts as the Chief Superintendent of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Metropolitan police. Hi is a straightforward man who does not take fools gladly. He is disliked by the security servicesbecause he keeps exposing their failures. There are five books in this series, with number six to be completed in May.
