Exclusive Interview with
Sasha Preston
When did you start writing?
I started scribbling stories voraciously as a child, even before I could write words. My childhood stories were wildly imaginative, and I loved to write stories about girls going on incredible adventures with their friends.
Now, I write women's fiction crime capers and cozy heists packed with the same sense of fun, friendship, and adventure that characterized my early writing.

What makes writing your passion?
Even before I could read, I was scribbling down stories or dictating adventures to anyone who would listen. That early spark never left.
My goal is to write lighthearted stories that give readers a sense of escape, joy, and excitement. I believe strongly in crafting stories where women step into surprising, adventurous situations that push them to change and grow. Sharing those feelings is what drives me to keep writing.

How long have you been writing?

What was the feeling when you published your first book?
I am in the midst of that right now, and it feels amazing! I am so excited to share The Sweetest Getaway with the world.

What’s the story behind your choice of characters?

What annoys you the most in pursuing a writing career?

How do you get over the “writer’s block”?

We all know the writer’s path is never easy, what makes you keep going? What advice would you give to new authors?

If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what would you say?

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with the bad ones?

What is the feeling when you get a good review?

Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?

Which of your characters you can compare yourself with? Did you base that character on you?

What do you think, the book cover is as important as the story?

Do you connect with your readers? Do you mind having a chat with them or you prefer to express yourself through your writing?

How do you feel when people appreciate your work or recognize you in public?
Fantastic!

Who is your favorite author? Why?

What’s the dream? Whom would you like to be as big as?

Would you rewrite any of your books? Why?

If you could switch places with any author – who would that be?

What would you say to the “trolls” on the internet? We all know them – people who like to write awful reviews to books they’ve never read or didn’t like that much, just to annoy the author.

What would you say to your readers?
Thank you so much for reading! I wish you the absolute best in life. I hope you can pursue whatever it is that makes you come alive and ignites a fire inside of you.

Share a bit about yourself – where do you live, are you married, do you have kids?
Originally from Michigan, I’ve made my home in the perfectly weatherless land of Southern California. I fell in love with a boy from Orange County and never looked back. We have an adorable baby girl who brings me so much joy!

What is your day job if you have one?

What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?
While I still haven’t officially committed a heist, there’s nothing I love more than going on adventures with girlfriends -- whether that's traveling and getting to know other cultures, making art, or doing outdoor activities like paddleboarding and hiking.
My morning routine also gives me an enormous amount of joy. I wake up every day before sunrise to exercise, meditate, and write.

Did you have a happy childhood?
Yes! I had an incredibly joyous childhood filled with adventures, imagination, and a group of fantastic girlfriends.

Is there a particular experience that made you start writing?

Do you have unpublished books? What are they about?

What do you think should be improved in the education of our children? What do we lack?

If you were allowed 3 wishes – what would they be?

What is your favorite music?
I love most kinds of music, especially live. But I listen to podcasts even more!
