When did you start writing?

I was in third grade when the impulse to write first hit me. There was some kind of contest. All I know was that I entered and won! That was the beginning of my writing career. It all began with a story about a horse named Stormy.

What makes writing your passion?

Writing affords me the opportunity to be the ultimate Creator Being. I can create irresistible characters and map out their missions in magical ways. That is just the beginning! The craft of storytelling is fire and light. The only limits imposed upon a writer are those instigated by their own imagination.

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing since I was a small, inquisitive child. There was always a desire to become something or someone else, along with the experiences that came with that existence. Little did I know that I was creating characters for my future books even then!

Carol Weakland

What was the feeling when you published your first book?

I believe I may describe the feeling as one of Euphoria, heightened by bliss! It took all my passion, all my belief to bring my first book to fruition. In fact, I nearly stopped many times. This was my Angel Fantasy, LAND OF THE TWILIGHT MIST, which is loosely based upon my childhood experiences in Canfield, Ohio.

What’s the story behind your choice of characters?

Characters are always the first aspect of the writing process that reveal themselves to me. They usually appear when I close my eyes and start parading around until I fall asleep. The Dragons showed up in this manner before I began writing THE DRAGON'S BREATH BOOK. This is a magical union that extends into the dreamscape and beyond. I do not necessarily choose the characters. In many cases, the characters choose me.

What annoys you the most in pursuing a writing career?

There are so many aspects of life that contrive to pull me or any author away from writing. The challenge is to make sure that you do show up, even if it is for brief periods of time. That way your story continues to advance little by little.

Carol Weakland

How do you get over the “writer’s block”?

I walk in Nature and allow the animals, trees and elements to speak to me. It is in Nature that I receive the greatest insights. As I look at a lake, a bird or a beautiful tree, ideas form and I view the subtle path forward.

Carol Weakland

We all know the writer’s path is never easy, what makes you keep going? What advice would you give to new authors?

I believe writing is my Divine Vocation. There is no question in my mind that I was born to write. Ultimately, nothing stands between me and my work. Life may take me in an opposite direction for a time, but I always return to writing, because it is part of my Divine Blueprint!

Carol Weakland

If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what would you say?

Listen to your inner voice. There is a book you are to write at this time. You must write this book first, before the others follow. This book will pave the way for others.

This is advice I did not heed as a young author. I wrote what I wanted to write, not the book I was Divinely supposed to write.

Thankfully, I am on track now!

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with the bad ones?

Yes, I do.

The bad reviews, painful as they can be, show that the person is at a different vibration than you. They cannot resonate with what you created.

There is always something to be learned from a bad review. Be gentle with yourself as you read it, see what you can gain from it, then move forward.

Carol Weakland

What is the feeling when you get a good review?

It is best to stay neutral when it comes to reviews. Yes, you can be jubilant, but do not base your life on a review. Gratitude is what I feel when I receive a great review!

Carol Weakland

Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?

I do this all the time. Life offers us so much in the way of imagery and example that authors can draw upon. It was amazing to me in THE ADVENTURES OF MAID MARIAN, HEALER OF SHERWOOD FOREST book 2 that Marian began healing the sick during a pandemic situation. This aspect of the story began 3 months before the COVID lockdown. This is an example how art imitates life. It can happen both ways.

Carol Weakland

Which of your characters you can compare yourself with? Did you base that character on you?

All the characters in my novels are aspects of me. The closet matches are Morgen in MORGEN OF AVALON, DIANA in LAND OF THE TWILIGHT MIST and Marian in, THE ADVENTURES OF MAID MARIAN.

What do you think, the book cover is as important as the story?

The book cover is very important to marketing your book. It helps you attract your audience. Choose the book cover that matches the vibration of your book and the audience will follow.

Do you connect with your readers? Do you mind having a chat with them or you prefer to express yourself through your writing?

I love connecting with readers at book signings, as well as through my online classes and my YouTube community.

How do you feel when people appreciate your work or recognize you in public?

It is an amazing feeling to be recognized in a positive light for your writing work. Once again, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude when this happens.

Carol Weakland

Who is your favorite author? Why?

Marion Zimmer Bradley. She vilified the communications I received from Camelot and Avalon before I began writing the MORGEN OF AVALON series. She was the first step of my Awakening.

Carol Weakland
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What’s the dream? Whom would you like to be as big as?

I have touched the Best- Selling author status with THE DRAGON'S BREATH BOOK. It reached the number one new release in multiple categories on Amazon. My dream extends to seeing my books on Best Seller Lists worldwide, including the New York Times Best Seller list. Why is this so important? It means people are finally being exposed to my books and their Divine messages. That is an exciting prospect.

Rather than emulate someone, I accept my highest potential as an author.

Carol Weakland
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Would you rewrite any of your books? Why?

Yes. I am currently tweaking THE ADVENTURES OF MAID MARIAN series. It is an ascension series and needs to have this reflected within its pages to an even greater extent.

Carol Weakland

If you could switch places with any author – who would that be?

I have no desire to switch places with anyone. I am blessed to be me!

Carol Weakland

What would you say to the “trolls” on the internet? We all know them – people who like to write awful reviews to books they’ve never read or didn’t like that much, just to annoy the author.

I am sorry for your pain.

Carol Weakland

Carol Weakland
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Is there a particular experience that made you start writing?

A contest in the third grade started me on the writing path.

Carol Weakland
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Do you have unpublished books? What are they about?

THE ADVENTURES OF MAID MARIAN, HEALER OF SHERWOOD FOREST will be re-released this fall.

This is a magical re-imagining of Maid Marian as an energy healer in a time when such abilities labeled one a witch. Marian shines through the murk, adding much needed magic into the Robinhood Tales.
