What makes writing your passion?

Storytelling has always been a passion of mine. Mixing modern settings with ancient characters and creating new worlds and adventures is my favorite pastime. I love seeing how characters interact in my stories. My stories contain a mix of genres - fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi, and more. It is my passion to craft stories that keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.

What was the feeling when you published your first book?

To become a published author was a major accomplishment and it was a dream come true. It was a surreal feeling to hold your first published book in your hand. It was a moment of joy, pride, and accomplishment. It felt like I was on top of the world. It was a feeling I will never forget.

What’s the story behind your choice of characters?

I love taking a character perceived as evil, giving them human-like qualities, and making them vulnerable so readers will care for them. This often creates a sympathetic and complex character that readers can relate to. It allows readers to explore the depths of the character's motivations and actions, and to gain a better understanding of their story and journey.

What do you think, the book cover is as important as the story?

The book cover is the first thing people see. It must grab attention and communicate the story. It should also reflect the genre of the book and its tone. A well-designed book cover can make all the difference in terms of drawing readers in.

How do you feel when people appreciate your work or recognize you in public?

It's an awesome feeling when someone recognizes you as an author. I had AT&T come to install my internet and while he was there, he asked if I was Laura Daleo the author. When I said I was, he was excited to tell his girlfriend as she'd read all my books. I gave him a signed copy to give to her. It was a surreal moment, to be sure. It made me realize the power of writing and how it can touch people's lives. It also made me very grateful for having the opportunity to share my stories with the world.

Who is your favorite author? Why?

Anne Rice is my favorite author. She is the reason I became an author. Her writing style immerses you directly into the story. You're right there with the characters, experiencing what they do. Her stories are full of intricate, powerful characters and vivid, imaginative worlds. I owe her a debt of gratitude for inspiring me to pick up the pen and write.

What would you say to the “trolls” on the internet? We all know them – people who like to write awful reviews to books they’ve never read or didn’t like that much, just to annoy the author.
