When did you start writing?

In High School … a few years back.

Christopher Hudson

What makes writing your passion?

I love movies and think of my stories like movies playing in my mind.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

How long have you been writing?

As a serious author about 20 years.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What was the feeling when you published your first book?

Satisfaction.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What’s the story behind your choice of characters?

I like to create interesting characters … characters that folks enjoy hanging out with.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What annoys you the most in pursuing a writing career?

That’s easy … marketing … I’m the world’s worst salesman.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

How do you get over the “writer’s block”?

Don’t force it … just relax and take a break … even a year or more if necessary.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

We all know the writer’s path is never easy, what makes you keep going? What advice would you give to new authors?

Do it because you like it, not to be successful.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what would you say?

Start writing.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with the bad ones?

Yes … the bad ones are what they are … everyone is entitled to an opinion and you can’t please everyone.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What is the feeling when you get a good review?

Like hitting a home run.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?

Not consciously … but I suppose it would be hard not to incorporate a little of yourself into your work.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Which of your characters you can compare yourself with? Did you base that character on you?

None really … I try to think of my characters as independent people with their own history, values and thoughts. I might identify more or less with them just as readers do, but they are not me.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What do you think, the book cover is as important as the story?

Well, I wouldn’t go so far as to saw it is AS important, but it is important. If I had the resources, I’d redo the cover for HEADWIND.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Do you connect with your readers? Do you mind having a chat with them or you prefer to express yourself through your writing?

I love to connect with readers … they are passengers on my carnival ride and I always hope they have fun. I love to hear if they enjoyed the ride.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

How do you feel when people appreciate your work or recognize you in public?

Well, I basically a shy person, so I don’t necessarily enjoy the limelight … but you can’t help feeling a little proud when someone throws some praise your way.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Who is your favorite author? Why?

Honestly, I’m not sure I could answer that … it’s kind of like saying who your favorite child is.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What’s the dream? Whom would you like to be as big as?

The dream is to have one of my stories made into a movie.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Would you rewrite any of your books? Why?

No. Once it’s done, it’s done.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

If you could switch places with any author – who would that be?

I can’t really think of any … I like being me.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What would you say to the “trolls” on the internet? We all know them – people who like to write awful reviews to books they’ve never read or didn’t like that much, just to annoy the author.

I don’t respond to them. I can’t control the Internet … heck, I barely understand it. It is what it is and people are what they are.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What would you say to your readers?

Wake each day with a sense of joy, wonder, gratitude, and love and pursue that which you enjoy.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Share a bit about yourself – where do you live, are you married, do you have kids?

I am retired and travel with my wife.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What is your day job if you have one?

Happy to say, nothing!

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?

I play guitar and sing … hit open mics all over the country.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Did you have a happy childhood?

Yes, it was rather pleasant.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Is there a particular experience that made you start writing?

I can’t think of anything … just trying to express the movie playing in my mind.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Do you have unpublished books? What are they about?

No …. but I do have a couple of screenplays I’ve written with a partner, Marcel DeClercq.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What do you think should be improved in the education of our children? What do we lack?

Education should be about teaching children to dream and then how to go about achieving those dreams.

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

If you were allowed 3 wishes – what would they be?

If people were more: Peaceful Loving Happy

Christopher Hudson
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What is your favorite music?

Well, I’m an old rock’n’roller, but these days I paint with a much broader pallet … I really like all types of music … except atonal … don’t get that.
