"Our experiences make us who we are today" A rude awakening; guided imagery that took Grace back to her birth. She was trying to stop her birth with both feet pushing against the sides of the birth canal. This experience occurred at an Adult Children Of Alcoholic's work shop in Anaheim, CA. Grace's first feeling was embarrassment because she was crying and could not stop, and to top it off she was 51 years old, and acting like a baby. The impact of that experience lead her to believe the world she was entering, as a baby, hadn't felt safe. Her parents divorced when she was 8 months old, and it was not a friendly parting.

Grace spet years trying to find the self she had hidden away to escape all the emotional pain. As she recovered, many years later, she became aware that emotionally she had been stuck at 8 years of age. Grace places 78 years of her life in this book. Her life was controlled by circumstances throughout those years. Because of this she wore many different hats as she struggled to survive. Eleanor Rossevelt said, "You do the things you think you cannot do."
