Glenford’s uneasy competence and the hints around Călin and McVeigh add a constant edge, like everyone is one step away from a terrible truth.

This book feels richly written and dramatic in the best way, with a strong sense of time and place and an undercurrent of danger that keeps building. The family tension around Victoria, and the consequences of what she’s done, are handled with a lot of intensity and momentum.

I wasn’t expecting the ship sections to grip me as much as they did, but the suspicion, secrecy, and escalating stakes kept me fully engaged. The way the author threads in Carian’s bold choices and Lord Reeds’ increasingly volatile desperation makes the mystery feel personal, not just plot-driven.

“Far from Home: Book Two” opens with real atmosphere and emotional weight, and I was immediately pulled into Lord Reeds’ desperate journey to Ireland after Detective Varon’s death. The slow-burn tension, layered family dynamics, and creeping sense that something darker is waiting on the other shore made it hard to put down.
