Death could not kill love, and so through the bridge that was love, we would always be together...
Grief. It can be overwhelming in its strength over us. It can be one of the hardest things to overcome. We can do all that we can think of to work through it, and still come to find ourselves devastated and pained. Sometimes, this is when the healing touch of an angel is needed to bring in The Light.
This book follows the story of a spiritually-minded man in his mid-thirties, living in New York City, who is working on healing from the grief of his brother's recent passing. This book spends a day with him down the winding trails and natural spots of relaxation in the city's famous Central Park, but it also shows how he comes to cope with the pain and loss. It discusses the work he has been doing to overcome the heavy blanket that grief can drape over our lives, and then, even more importantly, details his extraordinary encounter with an angel, who has quite a bit of wisdom to offer him along his healing journey.
The tale this angel tells him, while showing itself as a kindly old man, is a profound tale of friendship remaining stronger than the powers of death. Of love that has no bounds, and of something a little different than other stories, too... A story told more from the point of view of a soul in Heaven than from our point of view as people down here on Earth. It is eye opening, healing, soothing and inspirational... It is designed to open up deeper thoughts on the possibility that those who pass on really do not go so very far away from us after all. With elements of spiritualism and a big bunch of tried-and-true hope, this book brings us to a place of peaceful contemplation.
The story told to the man in this book by the angel is also its own stand-alone short story, "The Story of the Lights," comprising one whole chapter in this book. As is explained in the book's introduction, this allows for easy inspiration when times grow tough, to flip straight to this healing story. The entirety of the tale within the book, however, provides a lovely context to help connect with the messages to be found therein.
The messages of the angels are there for you, to help you feel the close connection kept between worlds by those who love. If we open our hearts to the possibilities, the angels are all really there, surrounding us with their Healing Light. If we quiet our minds and let them be heard, perhaps we will come to find that our grief is really a passageway to a place of healing, and that love can never be broken by the powers of death. Our loved ones are there, with us in spirit.
