Description
New Eden is the story about the collision between man’s technological brilliance and the flaws of the human psyche. And it's told on two levels: personally, through the eyes of Eva, a very intelligent but immature young woman struggling towards maturity, and on the macro level, where the planet falls to its knees at man’s hands.
Given the unique world it plays out in, and the ongoing reality of that struggle, it could be a young adult franchise like the Hunger Games or Divergent series, but with a more realistic and serious message of technology and humanity, about caution and hope.
The story begins with Eva, an intelligent 18-year-old who acts out in anger at the state of the world. She lacks hope and refuses to listen to reason, instead wanting nothing more than to be with her boyfriend, Dylan, and escape the shadow of her perfect sister. Her parents wonder when she will grow up and recognize her own potential.
Motivated by a humiliating breakup, Eva joins her grandmother, on a summer study session aboard the mysterious science vessel, called the New Eden, where Grams lives.
When she steps aboard, Eva’s transformation begins. The ship not only offers Eva a hopeful new world view, it offers a sanctuary, saving Eva, her student group, the crew and staff of scientists when the Earth suffers a catastrophic event.
Coming to terms with the event and its aftermath, Eva and the others realize while they survived, the destructive tendencies of mankind have also lived on.
