Book 1

I Want Cider
In “I Want Cider” (the first book in the series) the bugs help Sid Spider find his little sister, Cider, who likes to play hide and seek.
The second edition has been upgraded with new illustrations, and a "seek and find" aspect, where Cider is hiding on each page from her brother, Sid. Children will enjoy looking for her on each page!
Perfect for reading out loud to both tiny tots and older children, there are enrichment questions included in the book to get your children learning. There is a list of included words at the back. Perfect for preschool, family, and homeschool.
Book 2

I'm Still Me
Cade the caterpillar loves his bright colors and being himself. He’s not expecting to change... but one day, he becomes a moth! Will his friends still recognize him?
I’m Still Me is a gentle story about growing up, staying true to yourself, and knowing you're always loved.
In addition to a fun story line, I'm Still Me teaches the lifestyle of a caterpillar. It includes growth stages, including shedding of the skin, the pupal stage, and the emergence of Cade as a moth.
This book is #2 in the Bright-eyed Bugs Club series. Lessons taught in these books center around friendship, inclusion, and love of ourselves and others.
Book 3

Scavenger Hunt
Betty Bumblebee can’t return to the hive—it’s full of smoke from the beekeeper’s puff. So, she’s hosting a Scavenger Hunt! The Bright-eyed Bugs buzz with excitement, decoding clues from a special scroll and searching for colored flowers across the meadow.
This is also a "seek and find" book where similarly colored bugs are hiding in each flower patch. Clues of who to look for are given on each page.
This book teaches:
- Friendship
- Teamwork
- Rhyming
- Colors
- Tints
- Why beekeepers "smoke" the hive when retrieving honey
As in all of the Bright-eyed Bugs Club series, this book about insects, though fiction, also teaches some facts about bugs. There is an enrichment page at the back that helps parents of toddlers and younger children teach the learning aspects imbedded in the book.
Book 4

Gary's Gold
Gary’s on a golden mission, springing into action with Frank Flea in tow as they hop through hilariously high- stakes contests in Gary’s Gold, the fourth bug-tastic romp in the series.
Gary the Grasshopper has always dreamed of winning a gold medal. He dreams about jumping the farthest of any other grasshopper in order achieve his goal. Is his wish merely a dream?
Frank the Flea offers to help Gary train, and though he has such good intentions, there is a hilarious outcome for Frank.
By the end of their series of "training sessions", every single bug in the Bright-eyed Bugs Club is watching them practice and cheering them on. They are so proud of what Gary has accomplished, they award him with his very own Gold "Medal"... bug style!
This is a story of goal setting, persistence, and friendship. As with other books in the Bright-eyed Bugs Club series, this inclusive group of "should be enemies" is a great example of friendship, no matter what you look like!
Book 5

Celebration!
It's time for the yearly Bright-eyed Bugs Club Celebration! The flyers, jumpers, and crawlers gather together to prepare and celebrate complete with decorations, food, and games!
This book also introduces Gecko... their seemingly arch enemy, who hides and spies throughout the whole book and gets a surprise at the end.
Like all of the books in the Bright-eyed Bugs Club series, there is an enrichment page at the end which helps parents and caregivers take their young ones on a deeper dive into various concepts throughout the book.
Book 6

Boo! Guess Who?
In "Boo! Guess Who?" the bugs have found a ghost costume, and they are having a hilarious time hiding from each other and guessing who is who; and YOU get to play along! Join the bugs for this “not-so-spooky” fun time!
On each page is a bug in costume. At the bottom of the page are 3 choices of bugs that it COULD be. Children, with the help of their caregivers, if necessary, look for identifying body parts that help them decipher the answers. It could be some feet; it might be some wings; maybe it's a hat! Turn the page to find the answer and get a little positive reinforcement!
Pediatric Occupational Therapists will love this book for its ability to help with visual perception skills. Children will love it because it's downright fun, with lots of praise and "rewards".
Book 7

Cathy's Concert
A YOUNG LADY DETERMINED TO SUCCEED
Cathy's a cricket who loves music. She wants to make her own music and perform a concert for the other bugs in the Bright-eyed Bugs Club.
HOWEVER, MULTIPLE FAILURES NEED TO BE OVERCOME
But everything Cathy tries just doesn't work! Trying to hum like a bee causes her to do "raspberry blips". Trying to sing like a bird just doesn't work. She tries rubbing her arms together like Bella Butterfly suggested (after seeing a boy play a violin). But Cathy just gets tangled!
LESSONS IN PERSEVERENCE
Will Cathy ever be able to make music? Gary Grasshopper gives her hope when he brings a piece of paper that says that crickets use their wings to sing. Cathy leaves overjoyed to start to practice.
AND OVERCOMING THE ODDS
But her friends notice that the article says only BOY crickets sing with their wings! They decide not to tell Cathy...
Purchase this book to discover how Cathy finally succeeds making music for her friends!
The perfect book for any child who feels like they just "can't do things".

Thea Whitehead
Retired from teaching, among other things, I now have the time to focus on creating picture books for children. My series, The Bright-eyed Bugs Club, revolves around 18 cartoon type bugs who have the personalities of every little child you know. Some are shy, some are outgoing, all have their own quirks. A blue spider wearing a red baseball cap, or a mosquito wearing a top hat...they live in my books.
I also write books about REAL children, but each book stands alone, so I have grouped them in the Bright-eyed Kids Collection.
