About The Author

Marilyn Davis is the author of two new book titles, "Finding North: A Journey from Addict to Advocate," a memoir, and "Memories into Memoir: The Mindsets and Mechanics Workbook," both released in April 2021 and available for purchase online from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and fine online book stores.

 

Marilyn, now celebrating 32+years of recovery in 1990 until 2011, opened and managed North House, an award-winning residential facility for women. She is a Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist who opened and operated an award-winning residential facility between 1990 and 2011, called North House. She also facilitated men's, women's, and HIV-positive groups.

 

She recently celebrated 32 years of abstinence-based recovery.

Davis is also the author of the "Therapeutic Integrated Educational Recovery System." In 2008, Brenau University created the Marilyn Davis Community Service Learning Award. This ongoing award honors individuals working in recovery and mental health. In 2010, Marilyn received the 'Liberty Bell Award' given to non-judges and attorneys for contributions to the criminal justice system and communities.

 

Today Marilyn is widely known for her writing in many literary communities, including her award-winning website of "Two Drops of Ink," where she encourages collaborative writing and is the Editor-in-Chief.

Also, "From Addict 2 Advocate" is another award-winning site where she is the Editor-in-Chief and writes for the recovering community. Before reaching her goals and milestones, she was a desperate woman on drugs, managing rock bands at night, pretending to be okay, but ultimately giving up on herself, losing her husband, children, family, and friends due to her addiction.

 

When she isn't writing, Marilyn is an avid reader, enjoys gardening and cooking. She has raised two beautiful grown daughters, both of whom are in recovery. Marilyn resides in a suburb of Atlanta with a spoiled cat named Jackson.
