When did you start writing?

I started my first series in 2018 and published in 2019.

What makes writing your passion?

Words have such a powerful impact on a person, I think. I started out with writing poetry as a way to release emotions when I would bottle them up.

How long have you been writing?

I've been writing Dark Romance since 2018 and absolutely love it.

What was the feeling when you published your first book?

Pride. I couldn't help but feel I've accomplished something, I never thought I would before.

What’s the story behind your choice of characters?

Each of my books there's a different story line behind each character, but I try to make sure to switch it up. However, I always try to make sure it's something that will be related to by the readers.

What annoys you the most in pursuing a writing career?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think it will be plotting out the stories since a lot of the times my mind wants to take me another way entirely.

How do you get over the “writer’s block”?

I take a step back and go do something fun with my family or pick up on of my books I like to read.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

We all know the writer’s path is never easy, what makes you keep going? What advice would you give to new authors?

It's not easy, but what keeps me going is the fact my kids look up to the idea I'm doing something I love and work hard to achieve it. I would suggest to take your time write and don't rush. Let the words flow as they're meant to and not force them.

If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what would you say?

To not listen to anyone telling me I can't do something like follow my dream of writing and go for it.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with the bad ones?

I read some of them, but for the most part I try not to. I did once and it hurt my feelings to the point I felt I wasn't good enough. But in the end, I kept going.

E.C. Land

What is the feeling when you get a good review?

The reviews I do read from my beta team make me feel great.

E.C. Land

Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?

All the time. I feel putting a little personal aspect into life helps with adding emotions when needed.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Which of your characters you can compare yourself with? Did you base that character on you?

In Twister's Survival, book three to my Devil's Riot MC. It's the third book I ever published. It released in July of 2019. I felt the character's emotions were mine.

What do you think, the book cover is as important as the story?

I believe a book cover says something about the book. It's the first thing to draw a reader in besides the blurb.

E.C. Land

Do you connect with your readers? Do you mind having a chat with them or you prefer to express yourself through your writing?

I love connecting with my readers and hearing from them.

E.C. Land

How do you feel when people appreciate your work or recognize you in public?

I greatly appreciate it and try to let them know when they do this how much it means to me.

My favorites are Kristen Ashley, Lora Leigh, Sherrilyn (Kenyon) McQueen, Lori Foster . . . the list goes on. These authors are the ones who inspired me to follow my dreams.

E.C. Land

What’s the dream? Whom would you like to be as big as?

I don't think I want to be as big as anyone, but if I had to choose it would be on of my favorite authors. They rock and I love their work.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

Would you rewrite any of your books? Why?

I think I could revise a could but only to add more to the story line already there.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

If you could switch places with any author – who would that be?

I don't think I would. I like being who I am. I don't think I'd be able to choose even if I could.

E.C. Land

What would you say to the “trolls” on the internet? We all know them – people who like to write awful reviews to books they’ve never read or didn’t like that much, just to annoy the author.

I would say words hurt and if you have nothing better to do go read a book and actually learn from it and not be obnoxious towards those who work hard at what they do.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What would you say to your readers?

Thank you for supporting and continuing to follow along in the world that I've created.

What do you think should be improved in the education of our children? What do we lack?

I think that reading and writing need to be enhanced in schools. That the students should get the help they need and are not being provided for.

E.C. Land

If you were allowed 3 wishes – what would they be?

All three of my wishes would be centered on one thing and thats to spend one last minute with my brother. I have two brothers and one of them is my guardian angel. If I could see him again, it would be amazing.

E.C. Land
BooksShelf-Interview-Icon.png

What is your favorite music?

I love a variety of music and can't get enough of it. My kids joke about it all the time.

Hmm, the first poem to be in a book was written the day after I lost my brother in an accident and this poem means the world to me.
